Men's long sleeved tailored shirt using patterned fabric from Tanzania and Vogue V9220 shirt pattern. Vogue patterns often have more pattern pieces and are more complex. Vogue patterns can be a pain in the butt to sew like this one. However, this pattern sews up into a very tailored looking shirt with modern features with the bonus of being able to choose your own fun fabric instead of the boring solids, plaids, and stripes that are the staples of retail men's business, dress, and casual long-sleeved shirts.
Pattern: Vogue V9220 Men's Shirts. Cut the front sides straight to add 1/4" more room, shortened sleeves by 2.5", and added a front pocket.
[20170820] Blue porcupines on red log printed cotton fabric from Ghana.
Men's long sleeved tailored shirt with back yoke and darts, fancy sleeve plackets, flat-felled seams,
separate collar band and collar with collar stays, side seam gusset reinforcements,
and bottom horizontal front buttonhole. Pattern matched front opening and pocket. Centered fabric so
that triangle print would be centered and point ended near waist.

[20160924] Orange and black cotton batik men's long sleeved tailored shirt using fabric
bought in Tanzania has back yoke and darts, fancy sleeve plackets, flat-felled seams,
separate collar band and collar with space for collar stays, side seam gusset reinforcements,
and bottom horizontal front buttonhole.
Some of the tailored features of this pattern included collar stay inserts on the underside
of the upper collar. Collars in 2010s are much shorter than those from earlier time periods.
Used some old collar stays and had to cut them down by 1.25".
Pattern has topstitching and flat felled seams on the armholes and side seams. Nice part of
using patterned fabric is inconsistency in topstitching does not show as much.
The sleeves had fancy sleeve plackets on them and the cuff pattern pieces were cut slightly
larger on the side with the buttonhole side so when they overlap, the button side will stay under.
The sleeve placket could use a smaller button; I used same sized button.
The back has a small back yoke and the option to add the darts to the shirt back.
A small triangle reinforcing gussets was added at the bottom of the shirt seams. Hey, my points are not perfect. No worries,
this is the part that will get tucked in so won't show.
Like retail shirts, there was no front pocket in this pattern, so a pocket was added because pockets!
