1950s Reproduction Western Swing Red Dog Dress.

Red cotton dog print western swing dress made for the Western SwingOut May 2019.

I pattern tested this dress and made the flare skirt with inset pockets, long sleeves with cuffs, V-neck with square collar, and wider belt.

I liked that there were a variety of collars and sleeves and that several of the caps/hats were included.

The fit has more ease than I was used to. Since the extant garment pattern base was a waitress/diner uniform, the ease makes sense.

Using poplin for the collar and cuffs really turned out well.

Shoulder pads really helped with the look.

Red patterned cotton shirt dress with white buttons down front, white collar and cuffs, white piping on front pockets. Detached interfaced belt with buttons and piping.
Pattern: Laughing Moon 134 Size 16 bust and size 18 waist
Adjusted bodice height and width to fit. Added piping to belt.
