Reproduction 1820s Orange Figured Ballgown
Reproduction 1820s ballgown worn to "Not Playford" dance November 2021 in Hayward. Polyester dress was meant as a wearable mockup.
Dress
Orange shot green figured polyester taffeta ballgown has cutout short puffed sleeves, puffed/corded hem, self fabric covered buttons up back,
chunky hem detail, giant back bow, self fabric belt tacked to dress, self fabric piping, green ribbon through sleeve cutouts.
Pattern: Laughing Moon 138 Ladies' Back Closing Regency Gown with 5 Sleeve Options and 2 Skirt Trim Options
Modifications include:
- Bodice heavily modified size 16 (seams wider)
- Added hem trim and back bow
- Shortened hem - 5"
Future changes:
- Hem is too long for dancing; every once in awhile hem touched the ground
- Sleeve band is snug. Could be 1/2" wider.
- The side of the bow not tacked down needs a snap or hook and eye to keep it from drooping.
- Smaller hem trim
- Smaller bows or belt trim
- Maybe bodice trim
