Reproduction 1760s Pet en l'air
Made a short version of sack back/a la Francaise as a mock up. Worn to a picnic in 2022 and Costume College 2022.

Bodice
French General La Vie Boheme pearl and red printed cotton to make a short version as a wearable mock-up before making a silk or long version. Short versions of a la Francaise were called Pet en l’air.
20220501 Didn’t like first mock-up fabric so rehomed that jacket and started with another fabric
Pattern: Simplicity S8578 - Misses' 18th Century Gown.
Modifications include:
- Size 16 bust. Size 18 waist. Shortened length
- Shortened bodice 3/4”. Shortened sleeves 1”
- Added length to sleeve cap and changed the bodice underarm markings and the sleeve hem so that the shorter edge of hem would be facing forward instead of inside. On second mock lengthened sleeve and then rotated top so arms rest slightly forward.
- Top pleats were a little confusing and are bulky for bag lining.
- Accidentally added buttonholes at back lining dots instead of adding ties to first mock-up.
Petticoat
Petticoat pleated into small waistband with pocket slits on sides and side ties to go over pocket hoops. Self drafted.
